No discussion of 1990s British music would be complete without acknowledging the seismic impact of Oasis. Hailing from Manchester, England, this iconic rock band, spearheaded by the famously feuding Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, became the very embodiment of Britpop. Interestingly, the recording sessions for Morning Glory were fuelled by a chaotic mix of creativity and conflict, with Liam famously swinging a cricket bat at Noel’s head at one point – a testament to their legendary sibling rivalry.

Oasis’s defining moment undoubtedly came in August 1996 when they played two colossal shows at Knebworth Park. These concerts saw 250,000 fans converge over two nights, setting attendance records and cementing the band as the biggest act in the world. The scale of these performances, captured in the recent documentary film Oasis Knebworth 1996, truly encapsulates the band’s peak and their connection with a generation.

The highly publicised Gallagher brothers’ feud became as much a part of the Oasis narrative as their music. From on-stage brawls to barbed insults traded through the press, their tumultuous relationship fueled headlines for years, adding to their rock-and-roll mystique. In what has been the most anticipated music reunion in recent memory, Oasis officially reformed in 2024 and are currently embarking on the massive Oasis Live ’25 Tour. This global trek began on July 4, 2025, in Cardiff, Wales, and is set to continue through November, with extensive UK tour dates throughout July and August. Fans across Britain are currently witnessing multiple sold-out stadium shows, including five nights at Manchester’s Heaton Park and seven at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium, with support from acts like Cast and Richard Ashcroft. This monumental comeback, over 15 years since their split, is not only a celebration of their incredible back catalogue but also a chance for a new generation to experience the raw power of one of Britain’s most cherished rock bands. The timing also coincides with the 30th anniversary celebrations for their seminal album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, with a special edition released earlier in July 2025.
