As I Lay Dying, the San Diego, California-based metalcore powerhouse, has navigated a tumultuous and often controversial journey since its inception in 2000. The band continued its impressive run with The Powerless Rise (2010) and Awakened (2012), consistently delivering high-quality metalcore that balanced technicality with emotional impact. However, in 2013, the band’s trajectory was dramatically altered by the arrest and subsequent conviction of Tim Lambesis for soliciting the murder of his estranged wife. This led to an indefinite hiatus for As I Lay Dying, with the remaining members forming a new project, Wovenwar.
