Korn

Korn, a pioneering force in the nu-metal genre, was formed in Bakersfield, California, in 1993. The band, consisting of Jonathan Davis (vocals), James “Munky” Shaffer (guitar), Brian “Head” Welch (guitar), Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu (bass), and David Silveria (drums), emerged with a distinct sound that blended heavy guitar riffs, hip-hop elements, and Davis’s visceral and emotive vocals. Korn’s self-titled debut album in 1994 marked the beginning of their revolutionary approach to metal, steering away from traditional structures and incorporating dark, introspective themes in their lyrics. Hits like “Blind” and “Shoots and Ladders” propelled them to mainstream success. The release of “Follow the Leader” in 1998, featuring the chart-topping single “Freak on a Leash,” solidified Korn’s status as a major force in the music scene.
