Hailing from London, England, Sleep Token has rapidly ascended to become one of the most enigmatic and captivating acts in modern heavy music. This anonymous collective, fronted by the mysterious figure known only as Vessel, defies easy categorisation, weaving together elements of progressive metal, alternative rock, R&B, pop, ambient, and even gospel and jazz. Their unique blend of crushing heaviness, delicate melodies, and emotionally charged lyricism, combined with their striking masked aesthetics and deep lore, has created an immersive universe that has garnered a fervent global fanbase.

Sleep Token emerged in 2016, with their debut single ‘Thread the Needle’ and the subsequent EP One showcasing their early, experimental sound. Their rapid rise has been fuelled by intense speculation surrounding their identity and the profound, often spiritual, themes explored in their music. The band is said to worship an ancient deity known as “Sleep,” with each song being a “token” or offering to this entity. This rich mythology, combined with their complete anonymity (members are known only as Vessel, II, III, and IV), has created an almost cult-like following. An interesting fact is that despite their growing fame, the band has given only one official interview to date, further adding to their mystique and forcing listeners to focus purely on the artistry.
