Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden, a British heavy metal institution, originated in Leyton, East London, in 1975, and played a pivotal role in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement that emerged in the late 1970s. Formed by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris, the band underwent initial lineup changes before solidifying with vocalist Paul Di’Anno, guitarists Dave Murray and Dennis Stratton and drummer Clive Burr.

Their self-titled debut album in 1980 marked the beginning of Iron Maiden’s journey, showcasing their distinctive sound characterised by Harris’s galloping bass lines. The pivotal moment came in 1982 when vocalist Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith joined, leading to the release of “The Number of the Beast,” a chart-topping success. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Iron Maiden continued to release acclaimed albums, delivering epic storytelling through elaborate stage shows featuring their iconic mascot, Eddie. Despite lineup changes, the band maintained their momentum into the 21st century, releasing albums such as “Dance of Death” and “The Book of Souls.”
